Japan

Personally, I would love to go to Japan. I just think that Japan blends the best of the past with a big promise of the future, old temples and martial arts with technological development. Even when their language is really difficult, when the country is really small and overcrowded, and when their immigration process is a bureaucratic nightmare, is a wonderful place to visit and to live.

I know that Japanese culture is totally different to any occidental life model. Is not weird that some people work overtime and even in weekends to accomplish their goals, and they are on top of the investigations in computer science, artificial intelligence and robotics (they even have their own mecha!) Also, the country is wonderful, and as much as Chile, they have all the climates, from the mountains of Hokkaido in the north, to some paradisiac beaches in Okinawa, passing by wonderful cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, one can surely experience a vast array of emotions. Japan is also, in some senses, a model country, where we don’t expect to find dirty streets, stray animals on big cities, robberies or corruption like the Latin American countries.

Personally, I would love to go to some martial arts demonstrations or even train there. Also, would love to drive some JDM cars (like the Toyota Supra, the Acura NSX or a Subaru Impreza STI) on their mountain roads. I would also love to buy some manga (Japanese comic books) to my brother, or a new camera lens for him.

I would like to study there, or maybe work a couple of years, but frankly I don’t know if I would be able to live there forever. I am used to big, open spaces, and would be troublesome to give up a big house for a small apartment in an overcrowded city. Also, having my family far away would be troublesome, and knowing my mothers irrational fear to flight, it would be hard for them to visit me there.
